am-i-ok is a new app helping individuals in non-emergency situations to find the right care, from the right doctor, right now.
Focusing on triage as opposed to diagnosis, am-i-ok is a platform using high-level questions vetted by top doctors in America to properly source non-emergency care to local facilities.
Triage
A simple set of questions to determine that the underlying problem is not an emergency, and to help triage the patient to the proper facility
Find a facility
Search facilities by distance from current location, accepted insurance, and when available, current wait times
Transportation
Provides options to connect users with transportation to the facility of interest
Begin Process
Share information with the care center they decide to head to and begin the process before arriving. Information will only be shared and passed on to the physicians and facility if the patient opts to share this information.
Notify
Notify a friend or family by automatically sending a simple text with the facility you are going to, the address, and basic contact information so your friends and loved ones can easily meet you if necessary.
The result: A system where every
stakeholder benefits.
Patients:
Receive better quality, lower cost, and more appropriate care, in a more timely and cost effective manner, and with lower wait times than the ED.
Care Providers and Insurance Companies:
Save money on the often unnecessary and higher cost of ER visits
Care Centers and Emergency Departments:
Care centers receive more properly triaged patients who can benefit from better care in non-emergency situations, increasing their daily traffic while reducing unnecessary ED visits that result in the misuse of resources, ED overcrowding, and tens of billions of dollars in unnecessary losses per year.
